Author Guidelines

Before an article is submitted to IMC, it should first be submitted through ResearchEquals, or deposited as a preprint on a preprint repository (such as OSF, Humanities Commons, PsyArXic and so on) in order to initiate an open peer review procedure. This should be reported to the managing editor. 

Furthermore, all articles have to adhere to our Author Guidelines. For guidance through the submission process, contact the managing editor.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission (in MS Word) has been deposited on ResearchEquals, and this submission was reported to the managing editor of IMC. Or the first submission was deposited as a preprint on a preprint repository (such as OSF, Humanities Commons, PsyArXic and so on) and this was also reported to the managing editor, in order to initiate an open peer review procedure.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, and all DOIs for online references have been provided, when available.
  • The author declares the absence of any conflict of interest and warrants that the work does not infringe upon any copyright, proprietary, or personal right of any third party.
  • Authors need to be identified with an ORCID, when available.

Authors who publish with this journal agree to the following terms:

  • Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal. 
  • Authors are able to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgement of its initial publication in this journal.
  • Authors are permitted and encouraged to post their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their website) prior to and during the submission process, as it can lead to productive exchanges, as well as earlier and greater citation of published work.
