Semantic Universals of Intonation and Particles

Abstract

This paper proposes a new composition rule for discourse particles and prosodic mor phemes that paratactically-associate with the main text. Furthermore, the data and anal yses support the framework of inquisitive semantics since the morphemes in question can often embed both declarative and interrogative clauses.
