Free Choice from Iterated Best Response
Abstract
This paper summarizes the essence of a recent game theoretic explanation of free choice readings of disjunctions under existential modals (Franke, 2009). It introduces principles of game model construction to represent the context of utterance, and it spells out the basic mechanism of iterated best response reasoning in signaling games.
