Samen bewegen we anders: hoe de inzet van zintuigen bij onderzoek helpt om ableism te ontmantelen en toegankelijke methoden te ontwerpen
Samenvatting
An original contribution by Meike Heessels cum suis discusses new, sensory ways of collaborating with people with intellectual disabilities in academic research. Touch, taste and hearing play a much greater role in this than in traditional forms of academic collaboration. They describe how the “sensory lab” they set up creates a new space where, as a group, you constantly redefine the rules and working methods according to the questions that arise. The aim is to break down the existing hierarchies between students, lecturers, researchers, care professionals and experts by experience. By then using taste and touch, a joint search for new forms of interaction and new forms of knowledge is made possible through alternative approaches. The process proved to be slow and chaotic, but also enjoyable because it did indeed create the opportunity to search for a new path together, recognising that no one knows “how it should be done” and that this can only be figured out together.
