Studeren binnen ongebaande paden
Samenvatting
Approximately one in three Dutch students is a “first-generation student”. These are students who are the first in their family to attend university and who experience more obstacles during their studies than their fellow students. As part of her PhD research on first-generation students and burnout at the Faculty of Cultural Studies at the Open University, Caro Suringar spoke with three first-generation students. She talked to them about their experiences at university in terms of mental and emotional well-being. What obstacles do first-generation students encounter? And what can universities do to support them?
