This article examines the similarities between the 1995 Srebrenica genocide and the current military and political conflict between Israël and Gaza in the Middle East. It argues that, even though there are differences between the two, the cores of the conflicts are very similar, and the differences in how the two cases are treated nationally by both the Dutch government and media are therefore irresponsible and unjust. The article pleads for the Srebrenica-massacre to be a learning point in history for how to handle these types of international conflicts which result in large amounts of civilian deaths, and criticizes the way the Dutch government has been responding to the massacres happening in Palestine so far.
