This article describes the different ways in which radio show “Moeders Wil is Wet’’ and its presenter Mia Smelt could have functioned as cultural intermediaries between their audience and the Dutch society during the 1950’s, 1960’s and 1970’s. These decades are marked by depillarization and second-wave feminism, which caused events that mostly took place outside the isolating homes of the audience of Moeders Wil is Wet. Smelt and her team used their radio show, which was specifically focused on housewives, to inform their audience about different topics of the inside and outside of their private sphere. Through radio, the programme was able to create a bridge between their audience and the public sphere, but also between the individuals within their audience.
