Dutch children from Dutch cities and villages were sent to camps and foster families in Germany and other occupied territories of the Germans during the Second World War. The Nazi occupiers were the initiators of this phenomenon. Their main goal was to create unity between Dutch and German people, who were considered to be related. This article consists of a detailed analysis of this transmission. This article also examines the similarities and differences between this transmission and other transmissions that took place in the twentieth century. The central question in this study is why Dutch children were sent to Germany during the Second World War. By making a comparison with other transmissions this study also contributes to the broadening of research about child migration.
