This article examines the lived experiences and social positioning of European slaves in eighteenth-century Morocco through the lens of two rare female perspectives: the Dutch Maria ter Meetelen and the British Elizabeth Marsh. While traditional historiography has often relied on male-authored accounts, these narratives provide a distinct viewpoint on the complexities of North African captivity.
