This article presents an overview of the life and works of the poet and all-round writer Hans Berghuis, who played a remarkable role in the history of catholic postwar literature, especially in the province of Limburg (1947-1964). In 1984, after a rather long period of silence,
he succesfully made his second appearance as a (secularized) poet of great qualities in Dutch literature.
